SHOPITUPCHIC.COM BURSTS ONTO SCENE WITH ONE-OF-A-KIND FASHION EXPERIENCE
Online retailer offers a unique spin to buying online

This month: the new kid in the online retail community.

Shopitupchic.com provides the perfect answer to the question of affordable chic.

Creators Christin Chan and Katie Camacho, both former footwear buyers of famous online shoe retailer Zappos.com, came up with the idea for the website in Las Vegas. The company is currently headquartered in both Las Vegas and Austin and focuses on making available unique contemporary designs, both domestic and international, at affordable prices. Offering well known brands like Hazel, Shopitupchic.com gives the customer a unique fashion experience by also “thinking outside the box.”

“We are inspired by different cultures from around the world. For instance, we carry the brand Runway, which comes from Australia. This gives our customers a wide spectrum of different available options,” says co-owner Christin Chan.

While creativity and fashion are in many ways inextricably links, when it comes to affordability and quality, the options become limited. The founders of Shopitupchic.com created their website to change this norm by providing an affordable place to shop, a place where it is possible to buy that cute little cocktail dress while still having enough left over for that night on the town during which to wear it—a way of giving fashion back to the masses without breaking their banks, in other words.

“Women love fashion, and when we can’t afford quality, it can also be one of our biggest heartbreaks. We wanted to change that, and those women are the inspiration for Shopitupchic.com,” remarked co-owner Christin Chan

However, for those with strong fashion senses but even tighter budgets than usual, Shopitupchic.com provides them an alternative means of access to their fashions. With the launch of the rental portion of their site, the founders are now able to continue to uphold their promise of providing affordable fashions to everyone. Members get the choice of three levels of membership, each of which allows them to borrow a certain number of outfits each month. With no contract involved and no required commitment to buy, the rental aspect of the site allows women to enjoy fashion even if they cannot buy a closet full of clothes.

“We want everyone to enjoy what we offer; we want to give women what they love: clothes,” states co-owner Katie Camacho.

Charity

With the season approaching us quickly one thing we must keep in mind is giving. By definition:disposing of property by voluntary transfer without receiving value in return. Now lets put that into terms we can understand. Giving is to do or give someone something with looking for anything in return.Do something for another person is a small way we can impact on their life. Now most people think that you have to be a philanthropist such as Oprah, granted it would be nice to have her money .The truth is even donating five or ten minutes of your time can be just as valuable.

We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But if that drop was not in the ocean, I think the ocean would be less because of that missing drop. I do not agree with the big way of doing things.

During the process of catching of with my tweets I happended to come across Alicia Keys tweets. She was talking about keepachildalive.org and how they raised 2.4 million at their Black Ball event . (KCA) Keep a Child Alive is dedicated to providing life-saving anti-retroviral treatment, care and support services to children and families whose lives have been affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India by directly engaging the global public in the fight against AIDS. We all know how talented , beautiful and stylish Ms. Keys is now to add to that list she is the global Ambassador of the organization and co founder. I bought this up to say if celebrities have time to giving their time so can we.

Heading the organization as president and founder is Leigh Blake .Leigh Blake for more than 30yrs has been involved with the art from music and film to fashion to visual arts Name sound familiar , you might have heard her name in 2001 being mentioned in connection with the star studded remake of Marvin Gaye’s classic song ” Whats Going On”. Included in the remake were 40 plus stars including names such as Britney Spears, Diddy, Nas Jenifer Lopez ,Alicia Keys, Fred Durst, Nelly just to name a few.The keepachildlive organization is just one of the many ways that celebrities are taking their influence to help benefit the goodness of man kind a has a great website where can band as a community and help out in our own way . Please visit the site http://community.keepachildalive.org/ and see how you can benefit someone.

As women we are often expected to cook, clean, be mothers ,wives and be happy all the time as well as look good at the same time. The truth is life has us often juggling several things at once.It seems like if we were to add one more thing to our to do list we will explode. This is not the case finding a way to volunteer during the season can leave a lasting image for years to come. Keeping in mind we may not be as well known as some of these celebrities, it doesn’t mean that we can’t help influence the good of man kind. There are plenty of charities and volunteer related organizations throughout the US that we shouldn’t have a problem with finding one in your backyard.

Women Thrive Worldwide

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Oftentimes, we can measure our life by calculating the imprints left by a matriarch. A mother, grandmother, aunt or sister whose love and influence is woven into our very being—much like our DNA—I mean. They serve as our cheerleaders, confidants and voices of reason, providing authentic illustrations of unconditional love.

So, why is it that globally women make up the greatest number of those in poverty? Research suggests that women in poor countries are victims of poverty due to the economic hurdles they face which keep them from earning pay equal to that of their male counterparts.

Women Thrive Worldwide, an organization that focuses on providing international aid for impoverished women, recognizes that helping women is one answer for ending world poverty. They have made it their business to be the voice of change in influencing U.S. policy and international trade programs to prioritize women, as they recognize that women are more prone to utilizing their incomes to feed, educate and care for entire communities.

Shopitupchic.com, a women-owned retail business which shares their belief that empowering women can make a difference, will support Women Thrive Worldwide by co-sponsoring a charity event designed to assist in raising funds that will continue their selfless efforts.

Join them at “2 Charities, 2 Boutiques…Fashion with a CAUSE,” on October 29, 2009 at 219 WEST from 5-8pm, and do your part to end world poverty by purchasing affordable fashions.
